It's debatable. Certain collectors clamor for NGC and others vie for PCGS. Quite honestly, this collector likes to inspect the coin before viewing the holder......

Thats what I always thought because I have some coins that arent in the cases graded by NGC and they look better than what the graded ones look like! And i KNOW im gonna pay more for that case with their grade on it, so Im getting my coins without the grade for now-Im getting Gem Uncirculated coins, which so far have looked GREAT. i hope i know what im doing but by looks alone they are very nice!

Most of us start there and then learn how little we know of what we are looking at. That being said, you should enjoy whatever coins you enjoy.

Please start a new thread and post photos depicting a couple of your raw coins. Then you can follow up in the thread by posting some photos of your NGC slabbed coins. Some of the folks here could comment on the coins & provide their guess at the grades. :)

icerain: I am sure that it might bump down or up if it re-submit, but I have notice that grading has been consistent. I know some of you might disagree with my opinion. Basically, doing the re-submit is a gambling or hoping. IMO, it’s better to move on and find more coins in better condition and try again.

desertgem: Thank you for bring up about Au58$ was called, “Sliders”. It was new to me and I just google it. I will study more on that as I got some concept on that. Thanks and yes, books aren’t cheap. Most expensive single book that I purchase in three months is Comprehensive Catalog and Encyclopedia of Morgan and Peace Dollars. I already invest about $300 on different coin books. Nothing compare with your expense on gem books. I agree with your statement “If you don’t learn from your experiment, you have lost” Since all coins are hand down from my dad and grandpa. I can break even the cost of grade fees. I will continue study the grade and I have next batch that I want to submit to NGC. This time it will be stricter on exact and higher grade. It will be a true result to see if I improve or not. :)

Vess1: I guess I will say it repeatedly. :) Since I got hand down coins from my dad and grandpa. It didn’t cost me anything to buy them. I just paid the grade fees and $14 is a lot cheaper than buying a MS69 from ebay which end at eBay in between $50 to $75. My grandpa collect Morgan and Peace coins from his restaurant when people still spending those coins in late 1960‘s and early 1970’s. He just pull them out and keep it instead of deposit them in bank. I hope you can see why I went ahead grade them instead of buying them from eBay. It’s cheaper. :)

DM1: That’s why I decide to use ANACS to attribute the coins as their service is reasonable than NGC, but PCGS charge to attribute at ridiculously price. Of course some people want maximum profit then PCGS can be right choice, but not with coins that I have.

coinguy-matthew: You mean that PCGS would grade IKEs lower than ANACS and NGC’s final grade?

ktcmojo: Welcome and I am new as well. green18 said it right. You can check search box in this forum. There are enough debating on which company is best to grade your coins. IMO, NGC is nice design and their grading system is consistent. Their service is quick at economy fees. Better than PCGS’ price and timely. ANACS is great for attribute almost any coins existed. It’s still matter of opinion. You will have your own after you learn from threads and do it yourself.

mrbrklyn: Agreed, I have learn a lot from this forum than magazine from barnes and nobles. This forum is living information. :)
