So I decided to hop into the Black Retro Label promotion that NGC is running until the end of December, since I have always thought the old labels looked particularly sharp. I had some common-date Morgan toners that I picked up at a coin show (for common-date prices) and thought they'd be a nice submission for this. I am pretty pleased with the turnout and think I did pretty well sending them in. Some nice surprises on the 1881s.... Check them out.
I really find the black fields attractive against the toning as well as coins with red coloring. There's just a blended look to it that is appealing IMO.
That is a beautiful bunch of toners. I love toners, obviously. I also favor NGC in recent years. My only question is the black background of the retro slabs--it looks fantastic with bright, blast white coins, but with toners? I think the NGC White slab lets the toners speak more for themselves.
I like the retro slabs too. I think classic gold would look stunning in them but they don't do it. Nice batch of coins!
I own some golden dollars (Lincoln) in the black retro holders and they look very nice. I like the black retro holder and had a morgan slabbed in one. For me, I prefer the white background for silver coins.
