I pretty much retired from coins from about age 14 until about age 26 (with the exception of buying annual proof and mint sets). Girls and school took the majority of my time and money at that time

Remember, the higher-end stuff will still be here when you're ready to jump back in. But yeah, despite what some of the folks here may say, there are actually other things to deal with in life besides coins

Also, even if you're no longer buying higher end stuff, you can still look! You live in SoCal where there are tons of shows, including the Long Beach shows where Heritage auctions off some of the best of the best three times a year. If I were you I'd still be heading to Long Beach when you can to look at the Heritage lots as there are some true rarities there that you can check out and help further your coin education and grading skills in the process.

And all of us who have been collecting for more than a few minutes have gained experiences that are worth sharing with others. As long as BNB doesn't hold himself out to be an expert numismatist, I'm sure he has a gained quite a bit of first hand experience in the past few months that could be of value to someone just starting out.

Good luck!!
