Now that I've read this entire post and two bowls of popcorn, I have two thoughts. My second thought first; BNB should be nominated for a Coin Talk award for the most interest in a post. My first thought was that I would retire when the last person makes a post to this epic.

BNB I have no doubt that I knew how you meant the word "retire". I'm sorry to see you do this, I think you might have ended up a full blown collector down the road. I know from talking to you on the phone and reading your posts you are okay in my book.

Knowing the type of person you are only information that you really do know will part of any educating you will do. I hope Coin Talk will be part of this information sharing.

So you do want you want it is your time, life, and money. I just hope you don't become a complete stranger over time, I enjoy reading your posts and they generally wind down having some good info in them.

I'll make this suggestion for I think the third time. As far as grading goes, it's tough to beat the ANA 6th edition. In depth detail and photographs compiled in a book by the people who created the original standards for this grading system. And if those standards are tougher than what the TPG's are going by, so what?!! It will make you a tougher grader, it will save you money and you'll buy the better quality coin for the grade. Much to learn from that book alone. Everybody on this forum that's into U.S. coins would be well served by owning it.

Do you have that one BNB? Maybe photograde? What books are you reading these days or have you read lately? Or since you've been here? Any recommendations? Thanks!

Have you seen this one? I'm 3/4 of the way through it.

I know you feel compelled to reinvent the wheel, but I'm afraid David Bowers and many others have already blazed a trail several years ago. In depth information is out there for any newb that is interested.

I seriously think you should get it. It might be an interesting read in your retirement.

    Thanks, Larry.

I'm not actually going away or becoming a stranger though. I'm just making my point clear that I am done with investing in big budget coins after December(you'll see why I say December oppose to now).

So yeah, I'll be posting my questions, thoughts, opinions here like I always do. I just won't have any fancies to show off and evaluate.

I think that this is because when someone gets good at what they do it looks to the observer almost effortless.

Kind of like the coin shop man who glances at your penny album and quotes a price, most people do not realize he may have seen hundreds of them, he knows the spaces where the key dates are, he can judge condition pretty quickly, it is his business to know what he can sell them for so he can tell what he can buy them for.

Now we'll see if you can quit cold turkey or if you've got the collecting addiction/disease and come back for more... Happy Birthday BNB.

Good point. I think he has gotten the collecting addiction and doesn't yet realize it. Only time will tell. Happy Birthday, but don't deny those symptoms I think you have. Curious to see where you'll be concerning coins on the next birthday.

What if you don't care if your heirs get a big windfall profit from your coins? If they get full value great, if they don't well I don't care, I'm dead, and neither do they because they don't know, and to them whatever they get is "found money" anyway.

This poor fella actually doesn't feel the same way you do, I feel I got a great education from the high end coins I bought and being a guy who knew absolutely nothing about coins now knowing a little something is something I wouldn't trade for the world!
