    Anybody out there know the history of the 1960 50 cent piece, who designed it, who the girl is?

    Welcome to Coin Talk! :) These coins (10, 25, 50 cents; 1 dollar) feature a Liberty head, African/Liberian style as opposed to the "American style" head of the late 1800s/early 1900s. The 1960 pieces were first minted in Philadelphia, in later years also by the Royal Mint (UK) and others. Some have a "GR" signature which refers to Gilroy Roberts, chief engraver of the US Mint at that time.
