    Type: "Bicentennial - death of prince Eugen of Savoy".
    NB! Prince Eugen of Savoy (1663-1736) was the outstanding commander of the Sacred Roman Empire.

    NB! St. Charles Church is the famous historical architectural monument of an Austrian capital.

    Interesting look, mostly because of the digit "2". :) This was a one-year release only indeed, but the design was continued after the Jan-1925 currency reform. The republic and the austrofascist regime both used it.

    5 groschen 1931, copper-nickel, weight - 3 g., size - 17 mm, thickness - 1,5 mm, mintage - 16631000 pcs. Engraver: Adolf Hofmann (obverse) & Philipp Hausler (reverse). Coins of this type were released at 1931-32, 1934 and 1936-38.

    I found it in a box of my local dealer yesterday. And I got it for 77 cents only.
    It is 5 shillings 1960, silver .640, weight - 5,2 g., size - 23,5 mm, thickness - 1,4 mm, mintage - 12618000 pcs. Engravers: Hans Kottenstorfer - obverse (horseman) & Josef Koblinger - reverce (face value). Coins of this type were released at 1960-68. Demonetized at September 30 1969.

    Nice find, especially at such a price. :) The design was continued until the end of the schilling years by the way, but not in silver any more. (Between 1968 and 1998 they were in Cu-Ni.) The horse and horseman refer to the Vienna Spanish Riding School ...
