[QUOTE="bhp3rd, post: 561860, member: 16510"]Report April 4th Knoxville Coin Show. Despite increased advertising and exposure we had one of the worst shows in 6 years. One thing that hurt attendance was one clear sunny day 65 degrees after the better part of 2 weeks rain - people needed to cut grass! Also, lately we are having those gold and silver buyers setting up almost every weekend at different motels, plus more gun shows, liquidation sellers setting up selling everything but the kitchen sing at Expo centers - each weekend more and more competition for everybody's money - A sign of the times I guess. The only thing really moving was gold and silver with dealers saying they were making very small margins on that. Very few type coins were sold, some of the new Lincoln's were trickling in selling for about $1 a coin with no quantity of rolls available. One dealer had a box of the new Lincoln's in PCGS 66 First Strike designation and he wanted dealer to dealer $35 a pop. He said there had not been but one or too 67's yet and no 68's! Slabs were dead, moderns were dead and don't even ask about mint and proof sets. 2009 Silver eagles were retailed for around $16 to $19 each and many rolls available but dealers had no room in them. I had some activity on higher grade raw Lincoln's memorials and tougher date circ. wheat singles like the 1911, 12, 13, 15 "D"'s and "S"'s. Rolls of anything were dead, state quarters were dead, and on and on and on!! Many people just seemed to come for social activity and not much else.
