They have better luck than me! Found my third find last night. 1990 25C Canada. Ill post pictures in a while.
Wow..... this coin looks beautiful. I think I found a new style of coin I like. Love the Mayan like designs on the back. Just astonishing!!! So much to look at. Yea this is silver by the way. Two in one whammy Aka foreign silver
US: 7 quarters 1 nickel 7 cents 14 dimes Canada: 3 cents 1 dime 3 nickels 4 quarters Other: Mexico peso 2 euro cent battery All in a coinstar.
I love the coin but FYI it is not silver: https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide...os-km-432-1936-1946-cuid-1116300-duid-1418011 Sorry. It got stuck in the quote lol.
It's alright I got plenty of silver to go around haha. Just wish i would find a silver foreign other than Canada silver haha
I was at a local bank and stuck my hand into the reject bin of the generic coin machine. I pulled out a handful of coins, including a bunch of plain old modern coins and the following: 1953-D dime 1936 penny 1976 Canada quarter 1993 Philippines 1 peso 2008 Trinidad and Tobago 25 cent 1988 Australia 10 cent 1993 South Korea 100 won The silver and the wheat were especially satisfying finds.
One day a few months ago I found a 1964 dime in a Coinstar machine. The very next day I went to the same machine and there was a 1959 dime. Free silver is the best kind.
They sure made a heck of a lot of coin that year lol. Would be nice to find a silver with an S mint mark on it.
Not saying it couldn't be plated, but I don't see any of that "wavey" or uneven look to it. Is there any non-destructive test for plating? I just threw it on the scale and it weighs in at 2.74g
I found a silver quarter with an "S" on it. A 40% silver quarter, no less. It was a bicentennial business strike NIFC quarter that I found at my old job.
That's a good question. Honestly short of sending it to an NDT lab I have no idea. The weight is within planchet tolerances but how much will a couple mills over the surface of a cent weight and what material was used? I'm sure it's not outside the realm of possibility to remove enough surface material from a certain area of this coin undetectable by the trained eyes of a TPG. Take that and a standard steelie sample to test with a spectrometer and compare. If it would land in MS66 or higher it may be worth looking into.
It's probably destined for a flip for the time being. Maybe next time I know I'm going past my LCS I'll take it along and get his opinion as a place to start. Of course he's older than dirt and only opens when he doesn't have anything better to do so it may remain a mystery for a while yet, unfortunately.
