Now a big clump of apparently syrupped coins that I had to rinse out in a cup of boiling water with dish soap 21 cents 3 Nickels 4 Dimes and the best part.... a 2009 dated Chuck E. Cheese token golly gee!
My almost best find ever.... When I went to my credit union to dump the remainder of the $400 in dimes I searched earlier I checked the reject slot and found a beaten up Mercury and just about defecated my breeches when I saw the date... 191- The last digit had been dinged so it was not easy to see. Turn the coin over and look for a mintmark - D! On closer examination under my loop I can see the trace elements of the top of the numeral 7 in the date. Missed being a '16-D by one flippicating year.
75 cents Canadian, a Jamaican $5 coin dated 2002, a Torrey Pines Golf ball marker coin, a British penny dated 1971
Sweet silver sweet silver made my day by appearin' in the reject tray an' leavin' me a '63-D dime Oh and a couple of video game tokens.
Since the Store I worked at is now closed....permanently, I guess I can share this without getting in any trouble. I worked at a Superfresh grocery store in DE for about 15 years. When the coinstar got jammed, whoever unjammed the machine put all the jammed stuff in a jar inside the door of the machine. every month I was allowed to take whatever I wanted from the jar, and got some good stuff over the years. I don't think they would have let just anyone look in the jar, but it could not hurt to ask a place that has a coinstar if they will let you. The inside scoop on what you will, and will not be allowed to do, as I have seen, is that it usually takes a manager or head cashier to open it. in my experience, they will un-jam it themselves, and don't let the customer actually reach in the machine. The people who emptied the machine where I worked came in a white box truck, and swapped out the two full ins for two empty ones. They never let me look in the jar when they were there, and didn't seem real personable. it was my understanding that the man who usually came to empty it was the owner of that coinstar.
Two old Canadian 5c coins, a 1963 and a 1968... Oh and a 1944 USA'ian quarter - I love silver in the reject slot. Fourth silver coin in a week.
