Made 2 passes by a Coinstar not really know for good finds (lots of transients around who check the change slots). First pass: couple of Euro 1, 2 and 5 cents 2 3/4 zinc pennies 2009 Czech Republic 10kc 1993 Czech Republic 2kc Second pass: 1968 Canadian quarter (ping test sounds part silver) 1 copper cent
I just walked into the store and saw the reject slot had a bunch of coins in it. About $1.50 worth. Unfortunately no silver.
Reject slot at Brookshires had a '37 Merc in the reject slot, so I rightfully picked it up. The rest were crummy Zincolns.
Nothing in the reject slot, but just after dumping my coins at the local credit union machine it locked up. The manager opened it up and cleared a jam, which turned out to be some of those flattened cent "souvenirs". He ended up giving me everything that was in the hopper, plus what was in the internal reject bin. The "bin" stuff was a real mess of pocket lint, sticky stuff, and bent/mangled coins. Total take for my inconvenience was $4 in clad quarters, $2.70 in clad dimes, $.45 in nickels, and $.09 copper cents that weren't too mangled to recognize. There was one lone silver dime dated 1961. It's hard not to like free money even when it's grimy.
Got a Euro 1 cent, 2005 CAD quarter, a clad US dime and 6 US cents. I didn't know the modern Euro cent is so small. Seems pointless to me for commerce.
Stopped to get some milk and noticed a Coinstar machine. I felt a little weird putting my fingers in the reject tray, but came away with a 1964D dime.
Tonight I pulled out a handful of change from the reject tray. I found 37 cents in modern coins, a Chuck E Cheese token dated 2002, a weird looking arrowhead shaped object made of an unknown metal that seems to be religious in nature and a 1953-D dime. I've had pretty good luck finding silver lately.
Well they do not have coin star machines where I live and banks want sale there bags to me so it sucks.
So I was walking down an avenue in Brooklyn and me and my cousins were talking about how I made a bit of money finding some silver halves (see my post in roll searchers post your results) and then I said "I make money everywhere", stick my hand in one of the meter reject trays and found a quarter. I guess I got lucky hahaha!
Machine 1: 1937 cent 2 Memorial copper cents, 1 zinc 2 clad dimes 1 nickel 4 arcade tokens 1 car wash token 1994 Cape Verde 5 Escudos Machine 2: 1940 cent, 1 zinc cent, 2005 Bahamas 5 cents
Found the second Alcoholics Anonymous token this week, the first was a 2 year token, the second was a 7 year token. Guess a couple of people fell off the wagon and deposited their tokens into the coin machine.
Found a game token to an arcade in Kettering, Ohio and a nice 1918 Lincoln/Wheat in the CoinStar over the weekend, along with some other change.
