Found a 1978 dime in the tray at my credit union's coinstar on Saturday... and got a bonus $.10 when the machine counted a dime that was still inside from a previous customer.

$.20 of free money is better than nothing I guess.

1995 quarter from the credit union's Coinstar yesterday. That paid the 2% fee they charge members for using the machine. I hand roll everything except pennies. I'm happy to give them their 2% to take those off my hands.

They charge you even if your a member? I'd find a new Credit union!

Mine is free if your a member.

They're such an improvement over BoA, that I barely notice. And unfortunately, they've been the cheapest I've found in the area. Since I'm only running pennies through the machine, it usually ends up costing me less that $.20-.30 a week. They're good about ordering me boxes and saving "odd" items for me, so I'm still coming out ahead in the long run. Now if they start charging the standard "non-member" 9% rate, I'll take my accounts and go elsewhere.

Man I'm going to have to start checking these when I'm out

I never thought of checking them until I joined this forum. The first time I checked one out, I found a silver 1917 French 50 centimes coin. I later found a 1905 Barber dime (also silver). I also found a bicentennial quarter underneath the machine and some skunk coins.

If you search Coinstar machines, this will happen to you a lot. Just be patient. I was lucky enough to find the 1917 French 50 centimes silver coin the very first time I looked in the reject bin.

That's awesome-nice score! I just took a walk over from the office to the local grocery store...the machine was jammed and a service person was there. I was so tempted to ask if there were any rejects/etc I could purchase but the poor gent seemed pretty stressed so I let it go.

Coin machine at the bank had 2 1943 S Steel pennies, one Canada Quarter and one Canada dime in the reject tube today. Man, if someone was dropping off change that had steel pennies in it, I wish I could have searched the bin. Who knows what other old coins were in it? Well, I guess some lucky roll searcher will be happy one day.

The grocery store coin star gave me quite a haul today:

US: 2 dimes and 2 cents
    South Korea: 10 won(2)
    UK: 1p and 5p
    EU: 2c Ireland
    Belgium: 1 Franc
    Bulgaria: 10 Stotinki, 1 Lev

Best of all: Canada: 10 cents(1957)!!! My first Canada silver and only my 2nd silver from a coinstar.

There was nothing in the return slot, but I found a 1999-P dime in the gap between the machine and the wall at my credit union machine this morning... and yes, I'm the guy you see scouring the sides and underneath. I clearly have no shame about this hobby. :D

I look under the Coinstar machine. One day I found a bicentennial quarter under the machine.
