First reject tube finds for me in quite a while: Switzerland - 1982 1/2 Franc France - 1960 and 1961 1 Franc Germany - 1989, 1992, 1993 10 Pfennig 1977 and 1992 2 Deutsche Mark Canadian - 1988 dime 1964 and 1968 nickel 72, 76, 77, 82 x 3, 86 and 88 quarter Still have yet to find any silver, but it's always fun to find these.
I checked a CoinStar today, but I had to wait for the person to finish. She took so long, and I stood there so long, she must have thought I was a very creepy person. And after all that time, she checked the reject tray!
Nooo! You'll ruin their value! Sure, they'll "look nicer" and be more "sanitary", maybe even "fit into coin slots", but to the sophisticated gum-set collector they'll be worthless.
Excellent results today. I waited for the person in front of me to finish using the coin machine, and when they walked off, I looked in the reject tray. This is what I found: 1979 Italian Lire- uncirculated! (pre-Euro) Belgian 5 Franc (pre-Euro) 6 or 7 euro cents (ranging from one cent to five cents) Costa Rica- 10 something (I forget what it was called) An Egyptian coin 2 50 pence British and about 5 1 penny pieces A Mexican dollar 1 Canadian cent, 2 nickels, 3-4 dimes, 3 quarters, and a 2 dollar coin A few regular USA pennies, dimes and quarters I had to stick my hand waaaay up the machine to get all that out, good thing I have a thin wrist! There might be more that I’m forgetting, I’ll check a bit later.
I had never thought to check the reject bin and I didn't think I would find anything, but I found a French 50 centimes coin from 1917. Don't know if it is worth anything but it's going into my permanent collection. Thanks for the person who started this thread because I would have never thought to look there without it.
After checking the coinstar for months, I finally found something noteworthy. A 2011 Canadian Quarter, 2 Tokens of some kind, a button, and several pennies.
