Be very careful using coin counters. Are you aware that there is an internal reject tray? In some machines there are TWO! And whatever goes there doesn’t come back to you. I took $500 in Kennedys to one of those machines. Count wasn’t right and I made them open the machine and found 11 of my half dollars there plus a handful of other coins. That’s pure profit for the bank.
Found at grocery store coinstar this morning: sticky zincoln 1981 Canada 10 cent 1987 Canada $1 coin 1985 Spain 10 pesetas 2007 Costa Rica 50 colones
I don't know if its the economy now or what but the coinstar tray is ALWAYS empty now when I look. Haven't found so much as a penny in one for over a year.
53 cents in the slot. One of the zincolns I will have to throw away but the other 52 cents all clean and new and spendable.
While out of town for the weekend I got two hits at the same coinstar. 3 cents 4 dimes 1 quarter 1 CDN quarter 1 MXN peso 1 Angel token 1 NZ cent
Today I was at a local Stop and Shop store in Hyde Park, NY, only 2 cents BUT I pick up a 1943 zinc cent. So I said Thanks Howard, he passed away the end of last year and he couldn't believe how much I find in the reject slot. It's just a reminder that some one is always looking over your shoulder. Earlier I got a call from the local parish Priest he knows i collect coins and paper so I looked at his stash of foreign coins and such. Maybe if he knew someone who is going to canada to bring the change up to a church in canada and put it in the collection box. I found some silver coins not much but I will try and sell it for the church.
Thanks for sharing your finds. Do you ever add up what you have found over time? I know of someone who would add up what he found in the past year. It was an impressive total.
