Big score today, the two 1943 steel cents were on the counter and the rest was in the reject slot. A 1951-D Lincoln and a 1947 Roosie finished out the numismatic finds.
People are so weird. I walked over to the Coinstar today and was disappointed because there was nothing in the return slot. Then I noticed someone had placed this quarter on the upper shelf. It's like they decided Coinstar didn't accept it so they didn't want it?
Yup, if the machine doesn't take it then it is no good. I found two silver quarters on a local machine counter back in January like that. Frankly most people these days have never seen a silver quarter and used them in commerce - so if they see it they feel like it is a fake or something.
A zincoln in the reject slot, woohoo. But on the way into the customer service area where the Coinstar is I spied something shiny and dime sized under the front of the machine. I have no dignity when it comes to finding potential abandoned treasure. and my lack of dignity or caring that people see me pulling something out from unner the machine paid off well, don’na see many early Roosie S mints here on the sunrise coast.
I found a well-circulated 1869 Shield Nickel in the reject slot of the Coinstar machine at my local Kroger earlier today.
70 cents in Canadian in the trash receptacle next to the coin machine. And a dime in the reject slot.
COINSTAR GIVETH: 78 cents, a Jamaican dollar coin, and SIX silver Roosevelt Dimes... ..kind of made up for the shenanigans we had to put up with to get our "free" turkey from Giant.
