Great pic, Doug, lol. Speaking of birds, we have a duckling. Evidently he was separated from his flock, so we gave him safe harbor. I have no idea what sort of duck he is, but he seems quite content. I'm just concerned that, living with us, he's going to learn people ways and not know how to duck.
LOL LOL, weeeelllll... I did NOT want to scare him, however with all my travels, I have eaten virtually every meat on this planet...and some still alive... Hangzhou, China (famous Westlake resort area) is well know for their pickled duck-tongue... And of course, Peking Duck in Hong Kong... yum... (Sorry John....)
Cute duck JA. Even with all their bluster, I doubt either Anoob or Alegandron could kill the thing. I've traveled extensively as well, and I've eaten most everything put in front of me. I hunt, but to kill something dependent on us is another matter.
Bing hit the NAIL on the HEAD about me!!! ... but,,,, hmmm....yes, I have eaten dog... in Korea and Taiwan. and Civet Cat (source of SARS) in China.... oops...household pets... sorry gang... I repented my ways 15 years ago...
Hey Noob => don't tell Jango that you want to eat pet-birds!! (he's a parrot dude) ... ummm, but I must admit that we did grab an order of hot duck-wings and an order of hot chicken-wings to do a taste-test at out local watering hole (I'm a fan of chicken ... duck is a tad greasy and tough) ... Although I did have a sweet meal of Duck L'Orange in Vancouver a long, long time ago ... man, I'm making myself hungry!!
Well, I have to take all that back. I've raised cattle and hogs and have taken them to slaughter. Even chickens. So I guess I place a weird sense of what should and what should not be killed.
I am a true supporter of using "in-hand" photos ... sure, my favourite coin-seller uses this technique, so yah, I'm a bit bias => but man, his coins always look exactly like the photos (it's no-brainer) ... here are a few examples ... ... ummm, I probably have 50 more examples of his sweet coin-photos, if ya really wanna see 'em? (the dude is fricken money!!)
How do you keep the focus and keep them steady for a good shot? I AGREE, in-hand is a GREAT reference for size, color, etc.! NICE!!!
LOL, raised Cattle (Black Angus..THE ONLY STEAK MEAT!, Sheep, and Chickens)... but open to others on the menu...
I've been taking quite a few pics in hand lately, and that is the trick - you've got to keep your hands steady, or mount the camera on a tripod. However, with bright sunlight, you can use a fast shutter speed, and that helps the focus quite a bit.
=> sorry dude, I merely buy his gems (I don't create them) Ummm, unfortunately this is what my efforts look like!! (they're always big and nasty, my friend) ..... in yo face coin-photos!!
Hey! You beat the crud outta my efforts! Just posted my first two shots using my camera and stand... https://www.cointalk.com/threads/alegandron-roman-republic-denarii-fairly-new-additions.266205/
LOL, LIKE those big nasty pics! In yo face, and can really see the detail! I see some animals... I like animals...
Steve, all your coin images are great. I sometimes have to take the pics while I hold the coin just to get the color right. Just did with this coin: OLD NEW Here are the original images of today's shots:
Thanks ... yah, I always think that the colour in my photos is pretty accurate (it's pretty hard to screw-up my cool digital micro-USB thing-a-ma-bob) ... ummm, but my photos always seem a bit huge and clumsy!! eh-heh-heh, admittedly => I am a fan of buying coins from dudes that also have sweet coin photos (it saves me the effort of re-shooting my version of the coin) => my biggest thrills come from hunting and tackling my coin targets (yah, I'm pretty lazy in the ol' cleaning and photography parts of this cool hobby) Hats-off to you dudes that sweat the small stuff (you have far more patience than this fella!!)
