I am not a paper currency collector, but do ask for $2 bills from tellers to mess with fast workers and pizza people when tipping. Well plus for some reason like the denomination. Teller offered these making them my only “collection” of currency but honestly have no idea other than interesting history and age of the $2 bill. Paper people what are your thoughts and opinions?
For face value, they are keepers. The BEP printed over 52 million of the 28G’s and 18 million of the 53A’s. The 1928G notes were printed in the late 40’s - early 50’s and the 1953A was printed approximately a decade after that. Condition issues hold back any real value.
I love the old money. Keepers for sure. People do pay premium for them on auction sites, just not very much sometimes. You'll see bundles of worn ones for sale.
First one has a lot of creases. $3-$4 Second one is in a little better shape $4-$5 Last one is more modern. $3 These are retail, flea market, Ebay prices. The collectors here will tell you they are only worth $2- $3. The red seals are nice cause they are old and don't make them anymore.
I like em so Ill put them away for kids and grand kids to find one day. Agree about Jefferson, kind of creepy staring right at you at any angle...
I ask for them at my banks for pretty much the same reasons as you stated. I find they're quite useful when you're flying. You can give the person who helps with your luggage $2 bills rather than ones. Also, my laundry charges $2 to iron a shirt, so they're handy for that if I just have a single shirt to pick up. Keep getting and spending them, that's my motto.
