Whole article (first half at least) sounded like an advertorial - advertising badly spun into an editorial format. "Woe unto us, we're so sad we're not getting the ever higher prices we deserve - better buy NOW!!!"
So glad I collect dreck, stuff, and whatsit (East Asian cast, to be precise).

    Quotes from the article:

"The real “dirty” secret: gradeflation finally took its toll. For years Legend has been trying to do something about it. No would listen because everyone wanted a quick buck. We know just how toxic the culture has become, even with collectors who to get all their coins regraded when they are done."

"Everyone everywhere is talking about gradeflation and the effects it has had on the market recently (gradeflation has kind of been like an overnight happening that took 20+ years)."

Those who are familiar with Laura's writing will know that those quotes above are the same kind of things she has been saying for many years now, almost as long as I have. In fact there is a great deal of similarity to what she said above and what I have been saying for the past year or two on this forum.

But I think the second quote is the most pertinent - acknowledgement of gross over-grading has finally become mainstream. Even though the gross over-grading has been going on for a looooooong time. The average Joe Collector has finally caught on to it and admits it is and has been happening. The evidence has just become to overwhelming and they have finally become believers in what they never wanted to believe. What they have refused to believe for many years.

I wouldn't be so skeptical about the PCGS 3000 if I were you. It just may be reflecting a ray of sunshine on the horizon.

If that bump upwards you see at the bottom, continues to move upwards in coming months. It will be the first time it has done so in 10 years. And that could not be seen as anything but a positive for the coin market.

And that bump upwards, it also just may be reflecting what CBD has said in this thread.

Yes the dreck I collect I can now buy for pennies on the dollar, something like 120 pennies on the dollar.

@CoinBlazer, I realize you are newer to the hobby.

Laura Sperber is one of those personalities that you just have to get used to.

Chris Matthews, Colbert, Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity..... you know their spin, you know their angle. You listen to your favorite editorial because you like and agree with their angle.

Laura Sperber is the same way. Doug is the same way. I am the same way. We all have our spin. You have to figure out what their spin is, figure out what truths they may be saying amongst their propaganda, and form your own opinions.
