I picked up three 1916D Mercury Dimes recently. They were all purchased raw and as always it’s a risk with with all the fakes these days. I got a very good price on them as the sellers were very motivated to sell and the risk of buying them raw from unknown personal sellers was there. I don’t usually do that but took the calculated risk after checking them out as best as possible. I felt confident in my assessment but I’m certainly far from perfect. Anyway, I’ve sent two off to PCGS to be graded and so far so good! They actually came back better than I expected grade wise. Both straight graded which is great because I believe the last will not straight grade. Before this I didn’t own a single 1916 D and now I own 3!
