Well John it's pretty simple, and it's a fact not an opinion - there ARE a lot of idiots in the world. And there is certainly no shortage of them among coin collectors !

So I'd have to ask you I guess, given your comments, since when is is shameful for someone to state the honest truth ? If more people did that then perhaps there would not be so many idiots in the world ! Perhaps that would get their attention, give them incentive to go find out what they are doing BEFORE they go and do it.

I will leave you with this. Even a man as renowned as Albert Einstein once said - There are two things which are infinite: the universe and human stupidity, and I am not sure about the former.

I remember when I joined the NGC forums in 2005. I quickly learned that words of a derogatory nature were "bleeped" whenever they were used. The word "idiot" was one of them. Unfortunately, there were, and continue to be, so many idiots on FleaBay that I started using the word "bidiot" which was quite acceptable on the NGC forums. We don't have to make that distinction here, and yes, there are still a lot of idiots!

Oh no, that's unforgivable! Until now I didn't realize that by simply speaking the truth he's not being "nice"? Whatever will we do with such horrible people who dare place logic and fact over all-important feelings? Oh, those poor, poor people too lazy or unwilling to learn... it's just not their fault!

Perhaps we should take a que from the media/recent events and blame such people's self-imposed ignorance on the Russians or whatever other excuse we find convenient. Anyone and everyone but those who deserve to shoulder the blame... yeah, that's the ticket! Kumbaya, anyone?

I just realized that the Relentless Defender t-shirt I had on compelled me to speak up for the Ill informed. Now that I have removed it, I see that you are absolutely correct. There are many Idiots on EBAY, but that is not the only place they abound. At least on this site you have the ability to ignore them, isn't that right, books ? I guess I'll never know his answer.

You're a very special fella, aren't you? Never did I think I'd have to explain something so obvious, and so stupid, but you've proved me wrong.

Okay... first, it wasn't intended to be proper, but was written so that it could be figured out, or so I thought, by anyone with half a brain. Yes, it was meant to mean eternal or everlasting or forever a newbie as, like it or not, that's exactly what I am and what every one of us is in one respect or another. Unfortunately though, and as far as I know, "newbie" doesn't translate, so keeping in mind my hopes to make a point while considering the laziness of the average person, I made the "newbieus" part up.... OBVIOUSLY. You see, I poorly assumed any idiot should be able to figure this out, and if they wished to know what "sempiterna" means, well, Google is their friend.

My faith in the inherent intelligence of humankind has again been taken down a notch. Thank you so very much.

To paraphrase another poster, anyone with a Red Book can tell the difference. No one would even be remotely fooled by the obvious lack of a proof finish! :)

With that said, I do not approve of misrepresenting coins or this particular sale.

No time to study when you are constantly arguing.

Now if I was picky, I'd say that that "study you're Latin" does not look awfully proper either. ;) And if I had to try and translate "newbie" into Latin, I'd try "novicius" and see how the natives react ... oops, the latter won't work. But mixing languages and being creative with them is something I like.

In Japanese school, I suggested that if sukoshi meant a little bit, sukoshitto meant even less.

I know I should have used the possessive adjective your and not the contracted verb form you're (you are).

Wrong, I just felt like posting something like the Pakistani Anna which would be interesting. Nobody has answered my question about what makes that copper nickel coin more valuable than the twenty-five cents I paid for it.

I assume you're replying to more pearls of wisdom from books. May I suggest you tap the ignore option on that IDIOT, as I, as well as many others have. He should rename himself, argue before books b4 coins b4 thinking b4 more arguing.....

Kind of a strange question, but I'll try to answer it in an attempt to salvage this thread from the cesspool it has become.

You have a coin that is:

    1. Over 65 years old.
    2. Appears to be in mint state with some luster.
    3. Is an unusual scalloped shape.
    4. One of the first coins minted by Pakistan as an independent nation.

So taking all this together, along with the fact that $15 is really an insignificant amount for many collectors, is it really that surprising that it would sell for that?

Oh well, I learned that in colloquial language "if I was" is somewhat common. Of course that also depends on factors such as the location or age of the speaker.
