Living and working in a tourist town in Spain, it is not unusual to occasionally get modern, non EU coins in change. The foreign coins get mixed up with the Euro coinage in the tourists wallets and purses. But, this morning, when I got back from shopping at the market, I noticed this in my change. A bit older than those you normally see

I remember getting old Canadian coins like these back in the 80s. Not anymore.

Be careful using the word "old" with that coin. I was made in 1943 also. Nice find.

Now, my wife may take exception to that. I won't tell her. :)

I have to assume it was used as a penny, but the size would be slightly larger than the Euro cent, wouldn't it?

It is very close in size to a 2 Euro cent.
    Euro cent 18.75mm
    Canada cent 19.05

Closer in size than I thought. I was just too lazy (and not feeling well) to pull them and see.

When I was driving for a car service in the mid 80's (like Uber), it was a wealthy area, and this particular tip was quite light. Included was a foreign coin, so at first I was even more P.O. But then I saw it was an old silver 1921 Australian 6 pence. I think it was worth around $10. Now NGC says $16.50. I still have it 35+ years later.
