Hello again, Here's another one I'm looking for some advice on. I've found it has the same design as the Tiberius tribute pennies, but I can't say for sure whether it's real or not - what with my absolute inexperience here. Will have the weight and diameter shortly. Thanks
I don't see anything that looks suspicious. Post the weight and diameter and look at the edge for a casting seam. If it's approximately 3.7 gms (or even higher), it's consistent with a real one.
Weight is right at 3.7g. Don't have a caliper to measure the diameter, but it is just slightly larger than a U.S. dime, which seems to match other references I've seen which list the tribute penny's diameter at 19mm. The design elements of the coin in my post and your authentic example seem to check out as well, Bing, thank you for that. All said, is it safe to say this is original?
No one can say for certain from just an image, but, from what I can see, I would say it's authentic. To be slightly more certain, perhaps you should check your coin against the known fake databases: http://www.forgerynetwork.com/ http://www.forumancientcoins.com/board/index.php?action=login
