look at the seller (oops, meant "buyer), it's another ebay store. looking at his sales, he uses the same basic overhyped descriptions on his own auctions. either they know each other, and this was a "setup" auction, or he is just counting on flipping the merchandise at overvalued prices himself.
Bidding ended at $27,500 and jimthebuilder101 was the lucky winner...lol. Yea, I bet he doesnt feel so lucky once he recieves this lot full of junk and decides to send some of the coins to a TPG and comes back body bagged. I'd personally like to see the look on jimthebuilders face when he takes all the monopoly money to his local dealer for an appraisal. :headbang: I even contacted the high bidder (jimthebuilder101) and told him that there were alot of fake items in that lot, but never heard nothing back from him. O well.
indianhead: I have contacted a lot of buys in the past regarding fake Barber quarters: usually 1896 S and 1901 S. Only heard back once, after I asked him how it went, and it was a fake (of course) he got his money back. Others, I have never heard from. Nice gratitude, the least that they could do is acknowledge it, unless they were shill bidders.
dissapeared I had the auction on my watch list so I could see the feedback on the lot. Now the listing vanished, it's just gone. I wonder what happened?
seller? Does anybody remember the ebay id of the seller? I am bored and wanted to do a little digging. Thanks for any help.
does this seem like a scam if they have 1000 $ face of barber and show just 1 coin it looks a little strange 170078140412
Well, which is it fellow? $1,000 face value = ~$9,000 melt. The day I pay three times melt for a pig in a poke lot of junk silver is the day I get committed to the funny farm.
It's "surfsunlady." The winning bidder was "jimthebuilder101." Odd that the listing vanished like that after the fact. I wonder if someone reported it as fake and eBay took action?
I reported it along with probably several others. I also contacted the high bidder , "jimthebuilder101", before the auction was over and didnt get any reply from him so I can only guess that he thought he was getting a great deal and didnt need any advise from anyone. Im going to try to follow up on it and see what kind of feedback he leaves "surfsunlady" and I'll post it here.
I contacted him afterwards and he just emailed me back today. Looks like he wasted a plane ticket but aside from that was ok. HEY MY FRIEND JUST THOUGHT I WOULD GIVE A UPDATE ON THAT AUCTION AFTER FLYING CALIFORNIA,AND MEETING WITH THESE PEOPLE WHO TURNED OUT TO BE FROM RUSSIA,NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT ALL THE U.S CURRENCY TURNED OUT TO BE COUNTERFEIT AS WELL AS MOST OF THE U.S COINS THAT SHE ADVERTISED MANY WERE ABLE TO BE SEEN AS FAKES RIGHT AWAY OH WELL TAKE CARE
I contacted surfsunlady and got a recording. "Hi. Surfsunlady's answering machine is broken. This is her refrigerator. Please leave a message and I'll stick it to myself with one of these magnets." But she never returned the call...
I bet shes not answering any of her phone calls lately....haha. Im sure sooner or later this seller is going to end up just like "estatedoctor".....booted off of Ebay. Isnt it just amazing though how these people just continue to come back one time after another, reincarnated and left to rip off more people. Thats Ebay!!! (if you're not very careful).
