It's also one of the simi-key dates with a mintage around 300,000
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1899-1-Morgan-Silver-Dollar-Coin-VF-20-ANACS-/362922101729 compare. I can't find that on ANACS site, though.
I believe that you're correct. I see especially a difference in the "9"s of the date. The eBay auction coin must be in a fake slab.
Is there such a coin? 1878 O Morgan?
The one in the original post? If you ask us and its literally unanimous that it's fake.... why even bother asking us? Why in the heck would you waste your money submitting it?
Yes. I talked to Bret at Empire and he put it in writing if the coin is fake he will reimburse the grading fees plus refund my coin.
While that might seem like a completely wonderful response (and is the absolute bare minimum).... If a TPG calls it fake, obviously the company that sold it is beholden to refund your cost. Why is it your obligation to submit and authenticate, rather than theirs?
But the bigger question is: How did this company not recognize the obvious fake and refund you immediately? And/or, why didn't the company recognize the fake before they sold it in the first place?
Please keep us up to date on this coin.
You just beat me. Lol
