Real or fake $20 coin

    Is this real or fake how much is it supposed to weigh

    Look under the feet of the statue on the reverse of the coin. See where it says "COPY"? That means it's not a real coin.

    Please buy a copy of the Red Book and read it. Once you've done that, you'll realize that this isn't a design that was ever used for a real US coin.

    FYI, Copper Rounds, which it looks like one, normally sell for $0.99 cents RETAIL when sold NEW. This isn't new, so it's less than that ...

    If you paid money for it, it was worth something for the person who sold it.

    It's made out of something cheap, thinly plated with gold, most likely. Have you weighed it? Does it stick to a magnet?

    I'm guessing copper, brass, or plated. Not solid gold.

    That area beneath the base is called an exergue which is typically used for a name or other information. I'm guessing that the axe within which "COPY" is enclosed was added to disguise the word "COPY" and mislead buyers.
