While there is merit in the advice to avoid eBay, I do suggest you 'play the game'. The seller that will not be selling you the fake Caesar has three other Roman Republican coins offered at the moment. I suggest you look at them and decide if they seem better or worse - more or less likely to be fake. There are two kinds of fake sellers. First are the ignorant. They did not know what they bought was fake and were cheated by someone else. The second is very much aware of what they are doing and need to be exterminated. You do business with neither of them. You can learn from both. Which is this seller? At the bottom of of the listing for the fake Caesar are other lots 'like this' including four elephants on my visit just now. How many of those four are genuine or have even the slightest chance of being genuine? What say you experts here on CT?

I agree there are many but there are many fakes not on eBay and you will take longer to learn enough to protect yourself even a little bit. That is why we suggest you buy from trusted sellers. Some of them do business on eBay. If you want a Caesar elephant, you need to realize that you are not alone and people who make fakes know that. There are more fake coins of these popular numbers so it is something you absolutely must buy from a trusted and knowledgeable source. I suggest you start by selecting good sellers and wait until one of them has an elephant for you. I'm in line for that one, too.
