I'm not doubting what you say, but something I have always wondered about. Coin Shoppe is a big seller of ASE's, they send to NGC by the box loads. I do wonder if these are really graded as stringent as other coins and by the submitters. I've also wondered just what s the difference between a 69 and 70.

Who does not take a free taste ?

Mogan Stanley, Freddie Mac , Fannie May, they have led the way to manipulation that will keep your coin buying to a minimum if you want to eat.
Barney Frank stood in front of America and said Fannie and Freddie we good solid investments. Buy it for your future.
Where do you think people get the idea that commodities like coins can have a corrupt grading scheme.
Give most of your money to the government and trading houses and see what happens.
Give coins, diamonds etc to one or two and it would be difficult not to believe that the golden rule applies.
" Those who have the gold, make the rule"
There are more sofisticated scams in play then ever before.
I to would love to believe company a , x , or s would not engage in such behavior ! The temptation is very strong indeed.
People knew they did not qualify for homes, but banks and loan companies were prompted to lend, and create a whole set of new products, that were not worth the paper they were created on.
Gold and soon silver are being looked at as alternate currency by investors. The shotage of gold coin has hit every mint of any size in the world. People will pay more for verified coins but not great margins for graded coins if they are smart. Good quality gold and silver from the mint is cheaper then virtually all foreign mints.
Eighty percent of the population did not want the trillion dollar bail out. The car companies should file chapter 11 and go throgh the courts. The unions have tied them to contracts for an outdated pension system. It will be the only way not to keep pouring money down the hole.
With oil low and people out of work, a strong energy policy across the board would do wonders for jobs. Oil ,natural gas, green waste ethenaol, wind solar co=generation etc.
This would also keep one trick pony countries from holding us hostage with oil FORE EVER. They would have to grow food and export new goods. Not much time for nukes.
The bad countries left would stand out and be turned if possible.
Whoa are this old guys fingers sore !

I must admit to some confusion of Pepperoni's point since he is talking about things from Freddie Mac to nukes. Are we talking about a U.S. coin in this U.S. coin forum? Maybe this post belongs in a general discussion forum.

Regarding the uptick in NGC activity, my guess would be that this has to do with their new slab design and once the allure wears off, their volume will reduce.

Yes but it is a rare occurrence and the TPG did work hard to trace and recover the proper coin. And in those cases it has not been a case of a different example of the same coin but either the coin being missing completely or a completely different coin (type, mint date country etc) was received. I don't think I've ever heard of someone getting back a lower graded coin of the same issue.
