Rofl! But we musn't mock him... Lincoln was a great man, we shall honor him. Now the seller on the other hand... slap!
Well, the auction has ended with 0 bidders. He also stated that they've only had it in the family for almost 70 yrs. But what an idiot. Even if it was .999 silver it wouldn't be worth thousands in melt value.
I have the item saved, so will be notified if it is relisted. If he tries it again I'll report it. If nothing else it served as good entertainment
Something must have gone wrong. The auction closed with zero bids. Are you sure the timing on your sniping software is accurate?
Let's see - a nickel owned by a man who died the year before that design was first minted, silver plated by an agency created 48 years after his death (and which never silver plated anything). So why in heaven's name aren't you guys accepting the seller's claims at face value?
May be Lincoln was the designer of the Nickel...unfortunately he died before he saw his design in circulation...this seller's ancestor must have held on to the trade secret for so long  In any case, this thread was very entertaining
Why doesn't someone act like they may genually interested in the coin and ask nicely for a picture? May get some results that way. "You can get more flys with sugar", I always say.
The Following User Has Nominated This Post: Siwash (Yesterday) Thanks Siwash And thanks to all for the collective humor on this thread, I think we had fun!
We tried that. Here is what I sent to the seller: "Are pictures available for this item? Also, what Abraham Lincoln were you referring to? The one that was President during the US Civil War? Thank You" No response was received. As noted above, I saved the auction and will watch for it to reappear.
:hail:You may have already won. :hail: If you win you may and yes you will have a chance if validated and agreed by the original author of this notice and/or post to receive a silver (authentic silver color) painted nickel with a written date of 1866 on the label that holds this piece of history and also have a signature of Abraham Lincoln’s name placed by preparer on the same label mentioned above. It can be said that this is worth thousands, maybe even hundreds. It is a fact that Abraham Lincoln has owned objects dated prior to 1866. Many people believe that Abraham Lincoln died in 1865. So how could this be true? I would probably say in jest or not, even maybe that this is a conspiracy or just talk. The fact is stated above referring to the objects prior to the 1866 date. You decide. Send your money to me to validate if you are a winner. Remember You may have already won. Congratulations.
I asked very nicely if pictures were available for viewing with no answer. My guess is he knew he would be seen as a fraud. Ice
