Featured Rare bust type? Septimius Severus IMP IIII sestertius RIC 670d var

    The coin is about the size of a nickel and hand hammer struck, maybe a bit smaller and it is high karat gold. It is not an As or Sestertius. I am away from it a present so I don’t have its weight. I was thrown too by the S.C. on the reverse below the three Monetae. It’s an oddity and the more I think about it I am inclined to see it as a fantasy or counterfeit. I was curious what others in the know, so to speak, might make of it.

    About the size of a nickel maybe a bit larger. It’s gold I don’t have it in my hands so I can’t tell you it’s weight

    That mustache is rather uncharacteristic off this time I think. Looks more like a 19th century style, so possibly a fantasy piece.

    Definitely a modern replica, copying the authentic Three-Monetae sestertii.
