Thank you Hobo for the super quick reply. They are scans and bad ones too...cuz they look completely different from the scans. I will try to post better quality photos (and not scans this time..lol) so that it will be better to judge. I will also try to weigh them and post the weights but comparision would be difficult on my end cuz i dont think i will be able to get a real coin to compare to. Thanks again. Regard, striker
We have some Indian coin collectors here who can help with that. Post your photos and weights in a new thread so you get better exposure. Good luck.
http://jfcampbell.us/india/ http://www.rbi.org.in/currency/museum/cc-GeorgeVI.html 38 onwards should be a GVI..
the 89 also looks odd the rest i will need better pics. a lot of fakes were made but they were not made to deceive collectors but for ceremony purposes so its very easy to tell which ones are under the wing
Thankyou everyone for the overwhelming response. I have taken Hobo's suggestion and posted a new thread. http://www.cointalk.com/forum/t46560/#post503503 I have also posted the new pics there. Thank you everyone. Your participation would be greatly appreciated. Regards, striker
The period during which British India coins were issued by the then king / emperior were as under : Victoria Queen 1862, 1874,1875,1876 Victoria Empress 1877 to 1901 Edward VII 1903 to 1910 George V 1911 to 1922 George VI 1938 to 1947 This means that the date of the coin has to match the period of a particular Queen / King. If it does'n match, the coin is fake. As also metal, weight etc to verify.
It's definately a fake coins. George V coins have dates 1911 to 1922 only. 1939 means, the coin must have George VI on the obverse.
