I've been busy with school so I have been lacking money and time and pickings were a bit thing in my price range. However, I did manage to score a few neat FEL TEMPs this year. In no particular order: #10 A decent galley, but with a wolf head #9 I picked this one up for the odd symbol in the ex. #8 Got this just for the mullet #7 A nice, earlier FH #6 An unlisted FH of Constans (probably my favorite coin of the year) #5 a neat shield #4 same as above, but was a gift and much nicer #3 Probably my 2nd favorite coin of the year. #2 I picked this up mostly for the helmet of the falling horseman, but overall not the typical style from the mint #1 This one is odd as well. It is from Arles, but the style looks like a jumbled mess from other mints. I'm not 100% certain it is even official, but I can say the same about a lot of early FH from Arles.
Great coins Randy! I like the double strike on #3, the look of #7 and the barbarian hat in #2. The rest are great too. Thanks for the heads-up earlier this year on some great FH coins that you weren't gunning for!
LOL, Yeah, #7 NAILS IT! Kills it! Yeah, stick a fork in it, ITS DONE! So much SLAUGHTER shown above... definitely, the opening post is rated 'R'
Nice to see how you specialize in them, great collection all the way Just for the pleasure of showing its reverse, here's one you've probably already seen Constantius II, AE2 Antioch mint, 1st officina D N CONSTANTIVS P F AVG, draped and pearl diademed bust right FEL TEMP RE PARATIO, fallen horseman, Gamma in field, ANA at exergue 4.88 gr Ref : RCV # 18171, Cohen # 46, RIC # 132, LRBC # 2623 Q
Fun and desirable FTR's! I love the mullet! I also like those phoenix on rocks issues of Siscia for the same reason!
The 'odd symbol' is the local Siscian alphabet matching the officina number 4. The ones to watch for have the letters large in the field. Mine is a Constans shop #1.
Great FELicium TEMPorum assortment, @randygeki ! I confess—I had no idea what FEL TEMP meant until I Googled it 5 minutes ago.
Randy, It looks like you're serious about collecting the "fallen horseman" theme & have scored a nice variety this year this year . I agree with C.A., #7 is the gem of the lot ! The coin has exceptional die work, is in choice condition, & has a very attractive patina; it is the complete package .
