    Probably glue from a clasp for a necklace.

    Just on the reverse. Interesting ideas for the glue or solder. Hesitant to try clean or remove it

    Is it "soft" and pliable as in semi-hardened tar or gum? ...crud as cited above, not a die chip...what's your hesitation...

    Show pics. of obverse, not just the reverse. There may be something you are missing on the obverse.

    Welcome to CT. I would say this coin was a repaired "holed" coin. You should post the obverse of the coin also.
