    John Pett, the head of the department of ancient coins at Spink, has died.

    A great line from his obit: "He would help others with his opinion but he never claimed it was the ultimate truth – despite the fact that he was right a surprising amount of times."

    While I didn't know John Pett personally, I bought coins
    from him for many years. He was polite, friendly and honest, thus it was always a pleasure to see him. We have lost a first-class individual.
