2006D weighs like a zinc cent at 2.485g.
Looks like the copper layer is missing.
    Could be fire damage?
    Diameter is larger at 20.29mm/0.7990in.
    Thickness is 1.59mm.

    Bigger dia and thickness
    What do I have?
Doesn't stick to a magnet and minuplates around the counter with a strong magnet like a normal cent.

Texas cent? Sandwich between 2 layers of leather and beat the bejebers out of it till the coating splits and comes off.

I think you are right Kentucky. Texas cent was my first inclination as well.

yes, attempt at a texas cent using a zinc, copper fell off as it expanded some and they gave up, probably switching to a copper cent instead, because texas cents are bigger than this and you'd want to to still be copper color for full effect.

Does one have to whale on it with a hammer or can they use a 20 ton hydraulic press?

Asking for a friend of course...:D

I think the hydraulic press would work to an extent, I mean the idea is to get it to spread out but not deform or completely flatten it. just works better on pre-1982 cents as far as a finished product.

Tell your friend to give it a try, it can't be any worse than a train. :troll:

Enlarging your photo, I seem to be seeing a smudge of copper coloring around the edge after TRUST and again on the edge at about twelve O'clock, so would have to say you have a PMD coin, no matter how it was done. JMHO
