If I have the chance to pick up a cheap copy of a 1986 Blue Book, is it worth it for data or not? Thanks Sent from my ZTE B2017G using Tapatalk
If it's being used in conjunction with Blue Books from other years, it can also reveal historical price trends. I recently snagged a 1959 Red Book for that purpose.
Hardly a fetish with me. I still have every one I ever owned, though. That was a 1964 edition. When I find ones I don't have, I add them to my set. I also have 2 special event ones. And I'm going to have my Mega-Reds hardbound.
On page 424 of my 67th ed. Redbook, there's a page called "The Blue Book as a Collectible," with a few prices of early editions. Pages 422-423 cover collectible Redbooks in some detail. I would think this feature has been maintained in current editions.
In my opinion Blue books don't really have data (There is little information about the coins and the prices were pretty meaningless when the book was new.). An old Redbook would be a better data source
