The mint announced and has begun taking orders on Platinum Uncirculated Eagles as well as Gold Eagles. I cannot find any discussion regarding rarity so I thought I would start one. The Uncircurlated Platinum Eagles carry the same reverse as the Proof, but do not carry the proof finish. This is a series that will continue, although the Mint will continue producting Bullion coins with the same reverse design as they have in the past. What I am seeking information and opinions on is: Do you think the mintage of 2006 Uncirculated Platinum Eagles direct from the mint will be greater or less than the proofs issued? I am interested because the proof mintages of Platinum Eagles was severly low last year? Example: 932 1/4 oz proofs for 2005. It seems like in a way the uncirculated platinum eagles will compete with the proofs? Do you think the Proofs or Uncirculated Eagles would be worth more in the future? Any thoughts on the Uncirculated Gold Eagles would also be appreciated. Thanks, Chris
