Don't be so sure... here's one he scooped up in CNG 349:

Great... can't wait to be Clio'd when I starting bidding on and buying stuff off CNG :meh: (I do have an account already though).

He goes for RR bronzes as well. This one was in a ROMA sale where he bought almost every single one of them. Given, it's a rare type that I would love to have even this example of, but I think most people who aren't specialist collectors of the series would probably pass on this one.

Now I wonder if I have lost to this person. I'm sure I must have. I've lost a lot of bids on CNG, or else I just didn't bid on coins that I wanted as I saw the current bid amounts were already very high.

Clio has excellent tastes and the money to support that fact. Don't hold his money against him. What he does is what I would do if I were properly funded. When I see a coin he buys, I usually see what I believe to be the reason why he wanted it. When I don't see it, I wonder what I missed. If there ever is a catalog/book of his collection, buy it. It would be great to have him join us here and discuss coins. We all would learn something.

Based on all of the threads I have read on Clio, I can only hope to get Clio'd one day. Perhaps I need to re-evaluate what I am bidding on.

I sure hope he donates a sizeable proportion of that income to good causes, and doesn't just spend it all on coins.
