Thank you DR Kegg for your info. I wish it was a higher grade. I would agree that there should be some increase in value. Just not sure on what it would be. I guess it would depend what a collector of such coins/error is willing to pay.

In the books I have seen for the Canadian penny...they value the coin from 150.00 - 1200.00 depending on grade. I'm very new to collecting coins and have no real idea on how to grade the coin. If anyone has any input on possible grade of the penny...their opinion would be greatly appreciated.

I'm currently searching 2 boxes of Canadian pennies. I have them all sorted by decade. I'm currently going through the 1980's. Already finished the 40's - 70's. I believe I pulled out a combo of aprox. 30 pre 1960 coins from the 2 boxes. I'm checking each coin as I go looking for any doubling. Not a easy task as I only have a 4x magnifier at this time. I just won a 45x loupe on ebay but, almost every single listing for such items was in Hong Kong with 7 - 21 days shipping to receive. Cant wait for it. So far I have found what I think is a 1979 Canada penny with doubling of the last 9 at the bottom right side of it. Kinda hard to tell with this 4X mag. I will try and take a picture of it and see if I can make it larger with paint.net or photobucket and post it. Not familiar with doubling or machine doubling but, I'm very willing to learn.

I have also found a penny that looks like it was caught under another coin when the other coin was struck. Again...no good magnifier but, it has what looks like beads and maybe some lettering on the edges where the other coin was. It could also just be tool marks from someone beating it with some sort of round object. I will need better magnification to be certain. I will see if I can get any pictures of it and post as well.

Have a good day.
