    Does anyone have any idea why Bitkin has the words "Donative Coins" listed in the bottom right corner of page 952 of Volume 2? The page describes the large 1908 gold 25 Rouble and 1902 dated 37-1/2 Rouble issues. What, exactly, was "donative" about them?

    They were only minted to be given out to VIPs as gifts, hence the extremely low mintage.
