    Acetone evaporates too quickly to stay on the plastic once it hits the air, so all you have to worry about is the little time it actually spends in direct contact. That's usually not long, and hard plastic is a fight acetone doesn't win quickly. My only worry about using plastic is the chance of the acetone stripping plastic into suspension from the implement, and then redepositing it on the coin. It would not likely be observable.
