Just so we are all clear. You have the information and know exactly where to file the complaint but instead have filled what 10-20 pages with your replies admonishing everyone how your opinions are beyond reproach?

    I've seen that.
But what the US Mint Counsel wrote illustrates how some knowledgeable people in the field interpret the criminal statutes.

And the US Mint hosts the text for 18 USC 331 and they have underlined the key word "fraudulently" so as to emphasize it:
    https://www.usmint.gov/consumer/18USC331.html

The US Mint also has a page with guidelines related to businesses that are "Manufacturing, Advertising & Selling Jewelry or Other Numismatic Items Incorporating Genuine U.S. Coins":
    https://www.usmint.gov/consumer/indexb0ae.html?action=Jewelry
    My fantasy-date over-strikes incorporate genuine U.S. coins.

I already explained my motivations for continuing the discussion. New collectors and those unfamiliar with the topic deserve to see both sides of this issue to fully decide the matter for themselves before purchasing. As far as a formal complaint, that can take a few months to come to a resolution. Am I expected to be quiet and simply go away?

Yet these threads have been happening for years. So in other words the complaint was rejected?

No (not as far as me), and I haven't been participating in threads about him for years.

So you just want to be a thread warrior and admonish people? I don't get it. You spend countless hours on these threads, say you're a top notch lawyer but won't file a formal complaint?

I don't think anyone here would criticize your tokens. The posted pieces are harmless.

I have explained this to you at least three times now, and I am not going to explain myself to you any further. I think people have the right to know about the relevant issues before making a purchasing decision. I don't care whether you like that or not. Don't make assumptions that I am not working toward a resolution.

But you say you're a top notch lawyer and admonish everyone because of your legal expertise. I cannot understand why you post information for complaints when you will not when you can do so for free given your extensive experience....

I just don't understand why someone so distinguished wouldn't just file a compliant, unless they had and lost or are using internet credentials.......

You're clearly trying to troll and annoy me so that I go away so that you and a couple of other posters (not all Carr supporters) can fill this thread full of misleading fluff. That's not going to happen. I have already explained this to you in the very post that you quoted. I won't discuss strategy with you, and I have nothing further to say to you. I don't owe you explanations of anything I do, nor am I on a time line controlled by you. I won't respond to any more of your blatant trolling except as it relates to spreading inaccuracies concerning the production of his pieces.

You're being kind to yourself concluding that. That statute necessarily has to couple a fraudulent state of mind with the act of the defacing to sufficiently differentiate same from permissible defacing, such as accidental, or, as that statement of counsel puts it, "the mere act of impressing coins into souvenirs" (e.g., tokens, jewelry). Fraud has no bearing on 487, outside of your self-serving fantasies. Your conclusion that "[counsel] made a general statement that for all criminal statutes, fraudulent intent is required for violation" demonstrates only the depth of your inability to understand, much less follow his rationale. You're out there on Pluto, now.

Marketing. They think there's an anti-Carr niche market large enough to garner interest that will overlook the horrible overall quality.

Nope, it's because they're following the marking requirements specified by the HPA. But it speaks volumes how most of you Carr fans wouldn't even consider purchasing a coin that is HPA complaint such as what Royal Oak mint offers.

I though of this too, however did not reply because it is still possible. You could machine the die, leaving a raised blank area that would later be machined or engraved down to produce the word 'copy'.

Nope. ROM actually tried to use the Daniel Carr name in their eBay titles as advertising to bring more hits and find anti-Carr buyers. It was a smart plan in theory but backfired in terms of misjudging the market and violating eBay and trademark infringement policies
