I had a type of this denarius for some time and just realized finding this photo on wildwinds that some variations have a numeral. What does this number mean? Also I did a small research and realize it was produced during the time of Sulla. Does this coin have to do with his victories in Greece, hence the Victoria on chariot? I thank you all for your answers!

Do a search for my recent top 10 post. The Naevius Balbus was one of them. There's a discussion of its meaning. I assume the numeral you refer to is the control-number.
