Hello all, My wife has just inherited this and we just wanted to find out more about it. I've gleaned so far that it is a Diamond Jubilee coin/Medal but it seems different from some. It is 1 1/2" and 3/4oz Seems to be gold Any help or pointers in the right direction most appreciated.
Found one that looks almost just like yours on ebay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Queen-Victoria-Diamond-Jubilee-Medal-1897-/382346896561 Tons of different medals were made by tons of different people. Yours is most likely not gold. EDIT - Here is more info on your medal. Was made that the Birmingham mint as denoted by the "H" on the reverse. https://www.royalcollection.org.uk/...iamond-jubilee-of-the-reign-of-queen-victoria
When you think that the Gold ones went to Royalty it seems unlikely. Though everyone always said that the wife's Gran was regal
Most likely it was plated after the fact. The only ones I can find are either silver or "white metal".
It matters not what it's made of. It's going no where. The wife is called Victoria, which is why it was promised to get before she was born.
