Fact is that PVC itself is not flexible and is actually brittle. Look it up anywhere. PVC is a Polymer. It is a very stable Covalent Organic compound that does not LEAK anything. It in itself is a stable Organic compund. In order for it to be used as a flexible material, additive have been added such as Phthalates. PVC has NO ODOR of any kind. It would have to disintigrate in order to produce an odor and since it is a stable organic compound at normal temperatures, there is no emissions of any of its componenets. Covalent compounds do not separate easily as with electrovalent compounds. PVC is a polymer, coming from Greek meaning poly=many and mer=parts. The many parts are Carbon, Hydrogen and Chlorine. C4H6Cl2 (numbers should be sub numbers). There are Thermoplastic polymers and Thermosetting Polymers. Some melt easily and some do not. PVC in itself will not even start to melt until 212 degrees. The summation of this is that almost all plastics are organic compounds containing the same elements only of different quantities. At normal to lower temperatures there should be no contamination of any of these plastics with coins. This is basically why there are separations in the chemical fields such as Organic Chemistry. If the contaminates on a coin are greenish, they are not from PVC since there is nothing in PVC to combine with metals to turn them green.
