No I do not want to re-sell, but I do want to put them aside for a rainy day or the girls college fund. If sorting through them and finding the best bunch to send off and get slabbed will increase the value or increase the value of the collection, then I think it would behoove anyone to ask for advice and get educated on what to do with proof sets. I really do not collect proof sets and have no problem breaking them up if its good practice to do so. My passions are nickles, mainly buffs and moderns

I wouldn't be cracking open the sets.....to do that you need to know how to grade and have the BEST coins....dealers send in hundreds if not thousands of coins to maybe get a handfull back at PF70.

The Jackie Robinson set you describe is a $650 - $700 item all by itself.

No I would not try to have any of them graded, nor would I suggets this as a nest egg for education or anything else. The only good reason to buy coins like this is because you like and want them.

Well both actually... if held to the light should have very forstly devices in constrast to a deep mirrored surface. All proofs will have some contrast... cameo means there is a strong one, if there is a really strong one will be called deep cameo or even ultra cameo. I'm sure here have some pics of coins that got called deep cameo... you'll know it when you see it.
