i'm trying to get one of each of the main types of ptolemy coins, recently picked up this big sexy double eagle.

    ptolemy vi
    180-145 bc
    o: zeus amon
r: two eagles on thunderbolt, cornucopia left
    30 mm
    22.3g
    SNG Copenhagen 308.
    Svoronos 1424

if it looks a bit "wet", i treated it with verdicare. some of the green i was suspicious of(a small amount came off when scraped...so i hit it just to be safe).

check out this sweet edge shot...man, i love 'em thick!

Mine is centered the opposite way and is only AE28 (26.08g) so it was not flattened out as much retaining more of the tapered edge on the obverse at the expense of the dot border. I can't help wondering if the engraver of the eagles ever saw corn on the cob.

If he had, it would be big news, since corn wasn't known in the Old World until Columbus brought it back...

C71, I encounter many coins often including this type or so. Could you please give me any idea about how much my coin could be worth, as value? Thanks..

Nice, whip it in to your local jewellers and ask them to weigh it for you.
