Proof sets

    unfortunately by this time many of those staples have toned some of the coins an ugly black in places. They are likely worth more sealed.

    Wow! I have most of the one on the top right (1955), several were cleaned, so I sold them (described as so when selling).

    Not necessarily. I used to own many examples of the boxed Proof sets, all original. And none of them had the black toning.

    Yes it happens, but it doesn't always happen. In fact as one who searched through literally thousands of boxed sets looking for Cameo examples I can say that very few examples ever had the black toning, or unsightly toning.

    Well I have zero tolerance for not knowing. They were opened and all were real, no cameo, and no toning. But they are real nice to look at!
