Hi, I have 4 intact proof sets sitting in a proof book (57, 59, 63, 64), two of which have a few tiny holes in them. I use to have around 9 intact proof sets from the mint in original packaging but the material is quite flimsy, probably not up to today's standards—as these were all minted in te 50's—and there were tiny holes in some of them, so I had to transfer them to saflips, which I sealed shut (see photo below). I don't know if this significantly lessens the value but I had to do it. I was thinking of transferring some of them (possibly the intact proof and safliped ones) to capital plastic holders but I'm not sure how good they are for protection? Could I divide the proof sets up and then put them in the capital plastic holders with the original packaging? I'm unsure if they'd fit this way or if I might need to buy a different holder to account for the extra material. Imm nearly positive they saflips would not fit in the holders unless I got a full dollar holder set to account for the thickness of the saflips. I suppose this would give me double protection.
A user used this older unusal proof holder from capital plastics, which would work perfectly, unfortunately I cannot find it anywhere:
