I have never taken apart any of my proofs or mint sets not even my duplicates. I have been buying all the 2000 and 2003 silver set I can aford
They are very cheap right now, much less then the original price. worth there money in silver

Now I answered other before I really read the question. Was looking at it from MY perspective but I think I can make it fit yours;)

It is an impressive set so keeping them intact would be nice.
However, if you are losing interest and want to put money into other avenues you might consider weeding it out. If so I would dump the common sets first. If there is one coin in a set that goes for bigger dollar you may consider breaking them up. Only problem there is that the rest tend to go for nothing.

Certain sets you just may hold onto. I have quite a few Silver Sets from 99 on. Can't see parting with my 3 1999 sets unless I have to.

Now PhillyDog says he's buying 2000 and 2003 sets for silver. I can see that as I'll sell as junk silver if the price goes up enough. Nice junk silver when you get down to it.

In essence my "other" is "all of the above".
