Proof or no proof?

    Not proof, a proof will look very different and will have a s mint mark 99.99999999% of the time except for rare errors. A proof will have Lincoln's head frosted on the fields mirrorlike.

    Also, proof coins only did not have an S mintmark before 1965.

    Actually, before 1968.


    First year of S mintmarked proofs.

    though, the 1965- 1967 were no proofs, just Special Mint Sets

    Pre 1968 proofs had no mint mark and very shiny surfaces. Compared with a normal business strike cent:
