Here my PF-65 Ultra Cameo 1882 Seated Half Dollar. Unfortunately at the moment I only have a photo of the obverse. And here is my PF-61 1859 Seated Quarter Dollar. One of these days I will take photos of the other 19th Century Proof coins that I have.
I love MPL's. That's a pretty nice one. Keep us posted when you send it off, I'd like to see what it grades.
Stunning coins, Collect89! They almost look like a matched set. I wonder why the Seated and the Morgan weren't designated as cameo. They look cameo. The Morgan reminds me of a DMPL I own (totally different thing tho)
I have assembled a complete matched set of proof Liberty Nickels but have no photographs right now. My 20th Century proof type set is missing the proof Buffalo nickel and Barber dime. I have bought & sold the Barber dime for that set a couple times. When I put the dime into the set, it didn't match so I sold it (this happened twice I think). Of course, the standing quarter & Peace dollar are not available in proof.
This is not my coin, but isn't this one of the most amazing Morgan's you've ever seen? A PCGS graded Proof-67. It recently fired off at auction for $12,500
Why do you guys keep posting coins like this??? I have already ruined 2 keyboards with drool!!! What an amazing Morgan
This proof pattern cent (PCGS PR66RB was slabbed as Judd-165b, bronze) but turned out to be pure copper. The mint ultimately opted for the smaller flying eagle cent in lower relief.
NO offense intended - but boy I hope it looks better in hand. That toning and hits do it in for me - of course could just be the picture. Just my opinion.
yes, i dont have any idea what the 1899 Proof Morgan looks like in hand. I just thought the color was really dramatic. PCGS must have seen something good to give it a 67 grade. (maybe some of the marks on from the slab??? although from the photos it does look like there are gouges in front of her nose. maybe PCGS was having a bad day? i would probably go no higher than a PF64 with the marks, but what do I know!)
I was never much of a Morgan collector but the proofs can be mesmorizing. This one turned up at a little coin shop in California on consignment. I paid way too much (at the time) but never regretted it. PR66CA
Awesome proofs. Very pretty. Sure do like that '62 half, WL. Here are a couple more, in PCGS slabs. Lance.
Compared to these coins, my collection of proofs is woefully inadequate. I don't have any US proofs from the 1800s, but these might count for something, who knows. Crown-sized British patterns or fantasy pieces dated 1879 and minted with two sovereign-like reverses in copper, white metal (?) and gilt:
